I am Rahel Aasrand, a professional singer and violinist from Tallinn, Estonia, a beautiful city located on the Baltic Sea. For me, the most important values in music are beauty, connection and sharing.
Music has brought me to many very special places, and I have had the privilege of performing throughout Europe and North America. My performances have included classical repertoire with symphony orchestras and choirs in Europe’s finest concert halls, to concerts accompanying Italian pop icons like Renato Zero at the Verona Arena amphitheatre, to prestigious acoustic music festivals such as Planet Bluegrass’s Rocky Mountain FolksFest in Colorado. I’ve performed several concerts on the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA, played with an American rock band at the ÉCU Film Festival in Paris, France, as well as performed at clubs, theatres, festivals and other venues in the USA, Italy, France, Germany, The Netherlands, and more.
Following my music studies in Estonia, I received my Master's degree with the highest marks from the Conservatory of Music in Verona, with a focus on classical violin performance.
But my love of music extends to a diverse array of music in many genres and styles, including classical, choir and chamber music, traditional and modern folk, bluegrass, country, Americana, blues and even soul and rock. I have performed, toured and recorded with many different artists including The Old Times, Domus de Janas, Renato Zero, The Hot Teapots from Italy, Michael Dallin from Salt Lake City, Utah, Chicago Mike’s InterGalactic Brother & Sisterhood of Big Eyed Beans From Venus, and more. I am able to execute challenging and complex musical arrangements, but also love to improvise, particularly when performing blues, folk, rock and country.
I am available for live performances in many styles and types of ensemble, from classical, to folk, bluegrass, country, blues and rock. Depending upon my existing performance commitments, I may be available for “one night stands” or longer touring engagements, as either a front-woman, side-woman, or classical accompanist. I am available to play violin or “fiddle” and, in addition to being an accomplished lead singer, I can also provide professional background and harmony vocals.
In addition to live performances, I am available for recording sessions, both in the studio and “on location”, and I can also provide remote recording capabilities for your project — just send me a stereo reference mix and I can overdub violin and vocals wherever I’m currently located or I can travel to a studio of your selection.
To request a quote, please send me information about your project.
